Remember our 2A Rights!

In order to maintain our 1st Amendment Rights we must always remember to maintain and defend our 2nd Amendment Rights. Our 2nd Amendment Rights are not for hunting or for sport but for our individual defense and assurance of our 1st Amendment Rights.

I stumbled on this SUPERB video about our 2nd Amendment Rights, titled "2A Today for the USA". It was produced by the organization "Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership" (JFPO). It's a great video with a LOT of education packed into it. Whether you personally want to keep and bear arms is you choice; but you owe it to yourself to watch this video and become aware of the historical and political reasons for defending your 2nd Amendment Rights.

We adopt a 2nd Dog: OSCAR!

Today we adopted a 2nd dog into our home! He's a pure-bred Jack Russell Terrier. His original name was Sparky but his previous owners called him by several different names and he didn't seem highly-attached to the name of Sparky and so we decided to change it b/c we just didn't care for that name much. Sparky had some serious dental problems when we got him -- he came from a family who just loved him to death but hadn't been able to tend to his dental problems. We took him to the dentist the next day after we got him and it turns out he needed to have about 12 teeth pulled and some major teeth cleaning performed. In the process we were pressured to giving him a name while at the vet and weren't sure what to call him and just called him Apollo, rather off-the-cuff. We weren't sure we loved the name, but we liked it better than Sparky.

Three or four days later we had been noticing that every morning when you bump him in the slightest while he's sleeping he would get very vocally upset and growl something terrible! During the day he was the gentlest most friendly dog you could imagine -- but do NOT disturb him while he's sleeping, he gets U*P*S*E*T!!! :)

All of a sudden it dawned on Heather: his name should be OSCAR (as in, "Oscar the Grouch")!!!! And so it was.

Oscar is about 4 years old and 18lbs.

Went and saw the Declaration of Independence...

Today I went to the State Capitol and saw the Declaration of Independence that is currently on tour around the country. There was a fantastic video of the reading of the DOI by such great actors as Morgan Freeman, Mel Gibson, and several others. It was very moving.

The actual document is one of the original copies made and sent around the nation to the various states.

This is the video we saw... it's only about 15 minutes long and well worth watching...

24th of July Hike

We went for a hike today up Millcreek Canyon on the "Rattlesnake Gulch to Salt Lake Valley Overlook via Pipeline" hike. It was a little over 2 hours round trip... fairly steep the first 30 min., fairly level and easy the last part. Thanks to blog.utahdoghikes.com for helping us find a dog-friendly hike to go on!

Looks pretty shady in there! :)
