Our First Live WebCam Chat!!!
Well, we finally got both of our webcams working!!! It works "ok"... kind of crappy a little, I think it has a lot to do with the low-quality cams we bought... oh well, they work well enough and it's just kewl to see each other and talk! And seeing Heather and Tazzy playing is really fun too!
For those in the know and who care... Heather's machine is a WinXP box... mine is Mandrake Linux 10.0 Official, running a Creative Labs Video Blaster Webcam GO Plus on an ECS DeskNote i-Buddie A929 via an aDSL connection...

Guido: My husband is the one that set that up. He is away with the military right now and is unable to help you but I did email him about this and this is his response.
tell him that I'm very sorry but I am not a linux guru so I
can't explain it off the top of my head... and that my linux box in storage
right now so I can't turn it on and re-figure it out to explain it to him...
if he wants to know how I *THINK* I did it, it seems like I just plugged it
in, installed Video for Linux, used Manrake 10.0 (Official), and voila! it
worked... but I can't offer more help than that other than that he should
verify that his cam is a supported model and to do a *LOT* of searching on
the web b/c there is tons of stuff out there that explains it all too him...
again, tell him that I'm very sorry I can't help more...
